Rack Protection

Pallet racking is a solid investment but is still susceptible to damage from forklifts and other equipment. Protect your rack investment, employees, and equipment with these items.

Column Protectors

The most vital part of any structure is its foundation. Protect the legs of your uprights with these column protectors which cover the bottom 12”-24”. The most common damage to upright legs comes from from turning forklifts.

Available new and some used.

End of Aisle Guards

Pallet rack uprights at the end of an aisle are exposed to the most traffic and most prone to being hit by material handlers. Available new and some used.

Rack Back Panels

Protect your workers in walking aisles! Rack back panels help to catch small items that may fall off pallets or shelves. Rack back panels can also serve as a cage to secure valuable and important items. Available new and some used.

Miscellaneous items

Pallet Flow Racking

High-density racking helps to maximize the use of available space in warehouses, distribution centers, or any storage facility. The main goal of high-density racking is to store a large number of items efficiently, reducing the amount of wasted space and increasing storage capacity.

These are some common types of high-density racking systems that Milwaukee Steel can help you with:

Drive-in: This system allows forklifts to drive directly into the racking structure to access pallets. It works on a last-in, first-out (LIFO) basis, meaning the last pallet stored is the first one to be retrieved. Drive-in racking is suitable for storing large quantities of the same product with minimal selectivity. However, it is more susceptible to damage from forklift drivers.

Push-back: This system involves placing pallets on wheeled carts that are pushed back along inclined rails. When a new pallet is loaded, it pushes the previous one further back. Push-back racking allows for high storage density and better selectivity than drive-in racking. It is common to have a 2 to 5 pallet-deep setup.

Pallet Flow: Pallets are loaded from one side of the rack and move along rollers or wheels to the other side, where they are ready for retrieval. Pallet flow racking operates on a FIFO basis.

Shuttle Racking: This system uses remote-controlled shuttles that move within the racking structure, loading and unloading pallets. Shuttle racking provides increased efficiency and storage density, as it eliminates the need for forklifts to enter the rack aisles.

Vertical Lift Modules (VLM): VLMs are enclosed systems with vertically arranged trays that automatically retrieve and deliver items to an operator at an ergonomic workstation. VLMs utilize the vertical space to optimize storage density while maintaining easy access to items.

While any of these systems will provide many more pallet positions, choosing the right one can be daunting. Let our experts determine your needs and help you choose the best system.

High Density Storage Options

Cantilever

  • Cantilever racking is composed of a tower, or upright, with vertical arms. It is great for storing long objects, such as lumber or piping.

  • This style of racking is great for any oblong products. It is heavy-duty and easy to modify or upgrade in the future.

  • We have new Cantilever racking in stock. Currently, we do have a used unit available.

Other SHelving Options

At Milwaukee Steel, we know that each project is not like the next. Our experts are ready to discover your needs and determine what we can do.

Metal Point Shelving: Easy to assemble, versatile and fully modular, this type of shelving has load capacities to fit all needs. The manufacturer has options to adapt this shelving into work benches, cupboards and more.

Steel Shelving: This type of shelving is great for home and office use, or areas where traditional racking just won’t make sense. Many shelving come in a clip style that does not require tools or hardware (other than a mallet). These racks are easy to move around by hand yet sturdy enough to hold thousands of pounds per level.

Custom Projects: We are a small business with real people who understand that some projects simply require custom attention. We are not afraid to sit down and start with a blank plan to solve unique problems. From rush orders to complicated setups and strange requirements, we do our best to solve the issue at hand. Let us scope your project today!
